Gefticip is made by using gefitinib and it basically belongs to a class of anti-cancer medications known
as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It is used for curing non-small cell
lung cancer. The medicine functions by blocking the action of a certain naturally occurring substance
that facilitates the growth of cancer cells. This action helps in checking the spread of cancer cells to
different parts of the body.

Available as 250mg tablets.
Dosage:
The medicine is usually given once a day, with or without food.
Overdose:
Symptoms of overdose associated with Gefticip are diarrhea and rash.
Precautions & Warnings
Should not be taken without consulting the doctor, if the patinet has or ever had pulmonary fibrosis
(scarring of the lungs), or liver or kidney disease
Not recommended for people who are allergic to the medicine or any of its constituents Doctor should
immediately be consulted if allergic reactions (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the
lips, tongue, or face; or hives), lung problems, liver problems, eye problems, severe nausea, vomiting
and loss of appetite, are noticed
Doctor consultation required for pregnant women
Drug Interactions:
Cimetidine, ranitidine, esomeprazole, lansoprazole, omeprazole
Rifampin or phenytoin
Ketoconazole, itraconazole, fluconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin, ritonavir, nelfinavir, indinavir,
nefazodone
The blood-thinning effects of warfarin may be increased by gefticip and hence, the risk of bleeding may
increase
